In May 1876, at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, German engineer Franz Reuleaux, known as the “Father of Kinematics,” openly acknowledged that German products at that time were of poor quality. He also criticized the industrial mindset of pursuing low prices and imitation.

 

His honest words awakened German industry. Taking advantage of national unification and the Industrial Revolution, German companies began to focus on technological innovation, practical craftsmanship, and continuous product improvement. Eventually, “Made in Germany” transformed from a label associated with imitation into a global symbol of precision, reliability, and quality.

 

In many ways, today’s “Made in China” is experiencing a similar transformation. China is moving from being a manufacturing power in scale to becoming a manufacturing power in quality. In this important stage, what we need is not only advanced technology and craftsmanship, but also the spirit behind German manufacturing.
